Bye, Nikki and Poor Artu

On 1st February 2010, we had to say Goodbye to Nikki. She was a wonderful, demanding, rewarding pup who lived to be 16 years old.

And now Artu is home alone as we're currently getting ready to bring a pet for him - a little two-legged boy - home from the hospital.

Be strong, Arty Farty Pants :-)

Well it looks like Artu's not up to much in the sun. Black coat attracts the heat more than a lighter one, silly boy!

Nikki, on the other hand, aged 15, is much more alert in the sun. What you can't see is her fungus coat. Daily baths in smelly gunk presently the order of the week...!!

Hang on - a pig ear has Artu all awake now.....

Tenerife Heroes

Aunty Esther was in charge recently to rescue a Canarian hunting dog lost near Teide, the volcano on Tenerife.

Mummy and Daddy sorted the water and made sure that the doggie was ok and Aunty Esther swung her weight on Spain's 112 service. Finally, the dog-fearing rescue team came and took her to safety.

She managed to be taken a short distance in the back of the pickup truck to some local kennels. We hope she's doing ok....

It's been over three years since we rescued Artu from Spald but they still have his picture in their website banner:

Yesterday, we received news of "another Artu" who has arrived at Spald. Doggy Mommy doesn't want to see him as she'd want to take him - and three dependent ankle-biters is perhaps too many. Of course it is possible that nobody will want this pup so consider him reserved for when we need a buddy for Artu.....

Hello, we are Artu and Nikki!

Artu is a male American Staffordshire Terrier born in April 2001. He likes to eat, sleep, sleep, sleep and then sneak on the bed in the morning. He loves pig ears and meat but hates sweet stuff.

Nikki is a female American Staffordshire Terrier born in April 1994 and sadly passed away in February 2010 - having completed almost 16 years of life (112 years in Doggie Years). She likes to eat everything, be spoiled and to roll in the smelliest crap that she can find. Nikki is also a genuine American - born in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
